WHAT WE’RE SEEING
2024 Q3 MOVES ARE DOWN 10 PERCENT FROM Q2
Activity in Q3 2024 is down 10 percent from Q2, with 465 moves compared to last quarter’s 513. Q3 was the least active quarter of 2024 and Q2 was the most active.
Activity is consistent with national data across industries, which shows spring as the busiest season for hiring.
NYC, D.C., CHICAGO, HOUSTON & PHILADELPHIA: MOST ACTIVE MARKETS
NYC was the most active market in Q3, accounting for 27 percent of total moves nationwide. These five markets accounted for 58 percent of partner moves across the country.
PARTNERS WITH 10 – 15 YEARS EXPERIENCE HAD THE MOST MOVES
Partners who graduated between 10 and 15 years ago moved the most, making up 30 percent of total moves. Partners who graduated in 2012 were the most active this quarter with 31 moves.
SLIGHT UPTICK IN ACTIVITY FROM Q3 OF LAST YEAR
Q3 of 2024 showed 4 percent more partner moves than Q3 of 2023, with 439 moves compared to 422 last year. August was the most active month with 144 moves.
